The above colors are as they appear over our charcoal primer.
We will also use different stains and colored primers
which change the color strengths depending on our final
objective.
Finish coats are applied and removed using various techniques
as well. Sometimes we repeat a successful method and
sometimes we just get lucky while straying into unknown
areas! This
inventory of color grows as we build more special order
boards. (You buy the paint and we keep it!) As our inventory
of color has grown we are finding that more and more
selections are being made from the on-hand colors. (Everybody
saves!)
What makes this craft so much fun… No two boards
will ever look alike!
Our selection of acrylics is represented by the stars and
hearts. This color inventory is just too large to show,
but if we don’t have it we get it!
Colors change as our technique changes so there will always
be a variation. Also, you have to remember you are looking
at a computer monitor and colors may look different dependent
on all kinds of settings I know very little about.
Colors
The palette of colors
we offer is almost infinite. Paint brands such as Benjamin
Moore (www.benjaminmoore.com)
Behr (www.behr.com)
and Ralph Lauren (www.rlhome.polo.com) all
make their collections of colors available online on
interactive websites, as well as at retailers near you,
to aid in your color selection. Many great color combinations
can be created using their very sophisticated software.
We will duplicate the colors you chose for your project.
Materials
All of our graphic designs are unique and painted on
pine boards, and because in many cases the wood grain
becomes an important design element …sometimes
we just do not know what we have got until we have it!
Custom Designs
Interior Designers love the idea of picking up
like or complementary colors on accent pieces in initial
room design or room redesign. The Planet can help you
with a very affordable, fun and decorative piece, created
to your color specification …though we will add
a modest “up charge” if we have to go out
and have your colors mixed.
Please note: We do charge for custom
colors, but only what the dealers charge us for the
paint. Also, all of our checkerboard items are made
from natural wood. This means that natural processes
such
as warping, twisting, shrinking, swelling and cracking
may occur. We feel that since we are creating pieces
that are made to look older than they actually are,
that the natural processes which may occur, only add
to the charm of the piece itself. Also, we create our
pieces as decorative wall art, though they have the
look of functional game boards. We do not ship game
pieces and recommend that the boards not be used as
toys for young children.
