The whimsical themes of Checkerboard Planet
Artwork will brighten any space. The theme, the shape
of your board and color combinations are yours to select
so as to insure the “fit” of your new piece

The Artist… I am so lucky to have found Carla
Terra! I am not sure how our conversation came about
but we were talking about the boards and she shared
with me that she was an artist and that she painted.
One thing leads to another and the next time we met
she had her portfolio with her. I was very impressed
by her work, from portraits to murals, but it was not
really what I had envisioned to liven up my checkerboards.
My vision was for more whimsical themes. She said, "no
problem!" I made up some boards and asked Carla
to sketch some of her ideas onto the border area. I
must admit I was both surprised and thrilled when the
first board came back. She keeps outdoing herself with
each new board she creates. I think it’s her six
year old, I see a lot of his imagination in her work.

while the checker squares measure 1 1/2" and are
Green and Pale Yellow in color. Warm gentle winds are
blowing, lifting a kite high over this colorful land
and seascape. You can see yourself in this peaceful
scene as there is a mirror inserted in the board. Signed

“The Lighthouse”

The guiding light in this whimsical work of art is
so bright you do not see the non-playing checkerboard
squares. “The Lighthouse” measures 17 1/4”
by 17 1/4" with 1 1/4”, dark as night, playing
squares. I’m almost reminded of Hilton Head …without

“Heaven & Earth

18” wide by 17 1/4" in height. The key elements
are all outlined with the wood burning pen and then
the board is painted with acrylics. The playing field
